About Me![]() I've loved creating for as long as I can remember.
In college, I studied communication, graphic design and photography, and was then lucky enough to make a career in the world of corporate & marketing communication. Once my kids came along, I made the choice to stay home with them and found my new "creative inspiration" in them. I loved capturing images of them at every age and new phase ... and after friends and family began asking me to photograph their families, too, I decided to start a new chapter. In addition to being a great creative outlet, I love that photography has allowed me to meet so many new and awesome people along the way ... people who help me continue to grow and learn as an artist and as a person ... all while helping to tell their story. When I'm not taking photos, I love spending time with my family and friends, hanging out at a beach (when our Chicago weather decides to cooperate) and traveling. What's your story? I'd love to work with you to tell it together! |
Location Portraits (click for gallery)As a mom (of two college kids...YIKES), I know how crazy life can be, especially when the kids are young. (I also know how hard it is just to get out of the house sometimes!)
That's why I love creating natural-light images that help freeze real moments in time and that really help to tell your family's story. I try to approach each session with a very candid eye, and to make it casual and relaxed so that personalities can shine through. (I also try to work quickly enough so that we don't lose interest and attention spans ... that goes for you, dads out there. :-) ) Some of the best images often happen when everyone (even the grown-ups) forget that I'm holding a camera. Parents ... Now that I have a little parental experience under my belt, please allow me to also offer a little advice. We can sometimes stress ourselves out by expecting way too much of the little ones during a session. (Believe me, I've been guilty of that with my own.) The kiddos aren't always going to sit and smile and create that "perfect" photo we visualize in our head ... and that's ok. Trying to force things can often lead to quite the opposite result. I really want our session together to be enjoyable for everyone (and that includes you). So bring water, bring their favorite toy, bring snacks (heck, maybe have some yourself). I'd much prefer shots of giggly, happy kids with crumbs on their faces, to forced smiles on the verge of tears. At the end of the day, happy people make for happy pictures. And real is always more interesting than "perfect" anyway. Every day, I try to look at the world in new and interesting ways. My fine art photography collection includes a wide variety of images that have caught my eye ... from the city, to the beach, to the ordinary things and places I pass every day. Come on in and look around! Some of my images could be just the thing to transform a room in your home, or a client's home, or might be the perfect gift for someone special. |
